Introducing Brumby Counselling & Wellbeing

Human. Relational. Grounded in connection
We are pleased to share that Brumby Equine Assisted Therapy is now Brumby Counselling & Wellbeing.
As practitioners, we continue to grow and evolve—and our practice naturally evolves with us. Our new name more clearly reflects what has always underpinned our work: counselling. Equine-assisted and nature-based approaches remain an important part of what we offer, while the new name creates space for our full range of services and the different ways people may choose to experience counselling.
Although our name has changed, the heart of Brumby remains the same: warm, respectful and deeply human support, shaped around each person’s individual needs.
Counselling that meets you where you are
At Brumby Counselling & Wellbeing, our approach is warm, relational and grounded in Gestalt principles and evidence-informed counselling practices.
Relational counselling recognises that our experiences of relationship—with ourselves, other people and the world around us—can influence the challenges we face today. We also believe that a safe and genuine therapeutic relationship can support awareness, growth and our natural capacity for change.
For us, counselling is not about fitting people into a clinical framework. It is about meeting you as a human being and creating a therapeutic experience that accommodates your needs, preferences and pace.
We now offer counselling across two beautiful locations:
Kanimbla, NSW 2790
Equine-assisted counselling
Supported therapeutic experiences with horses can create opportunities to explore emotions, body awareness, boundaries, trust, communication and patterns of relating. No horse experience is required, and sessions do not involve riding.
Nature-based walk-and-talk counselling
Counselling takes place outdoors, with movement and nature becoming part of the therapeutic experience. This can be helpful for people who feel more comfortable walking beside someone than sitting face-to-face in a counselling room.
Katoomba, NSW 2780
Room-based counselling
A private and supportive setting for more traditional face-to-face counselling.
Walk-and-talk counselling
A gentle alternative to room-based sessions, combining counselling with walking outdoors. Moving side by side can reduce the intensity of direct eye contact, support grounding and allow conversation to unfold more naturally.
Across every setting, our work may include relational and experiential learning, Gestalt therapy, mindfulness, psychoeducation and other evidence-informed counselling approaches.
You do not need to arrive with the right words or know exactly where to begin. We will meet you where you are and shape the counselling experience with you.
We support children, adolescents and adults, including NDIS participants.
